Early Rock Poster

I did these for CBS Records while in art school. I was working at the LA Branch of CBS Records when all the A&R execs went to London for a convention of some sort.

They were giddy upon returning saying one of them lost a bet. The bet went like this: A guy stood on the sidewalk outside the hotel, legs akimbo, playing this old-style guitar guitar all night. The loser of the bet had to sign him.. That was how Elvis Costello got his first gig. He rocketed to fame with maybe “Red Shoes “, “ Allison” and other monster hits.

I got a Gold Record at a Bruce Springsteen concert at The Roxy for the artwork and poster.
