Buildings we like. And The Chrysler is the best. Coming up from Grand Central It stands as a reminder of the grandeur of the great City of New York. You think of all those who have gone before, seen this view and were also inspired : Cole Porter, Louis Armstrong, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Geogria O’Keefe, Margaret Bourke White, Frank Sinatra and Miles Davis all shared in this view.
A reward for your long trip into the City, it’s also there upon your return late at night. A benevolent giant, you both survived another day. Spearing into the night sky, the lights twinkle, the gargoyles wink. All is ok.
This is a series of paintings of The Chrysler Building done in the last 5 years. I was asked to do a set design for the play Satchmo at the Waldorf. What immediately sold me was the Waldorf has a suite called the Chrysler Room. Perfect as the paintings fit right into the clear night view out the tall windows.
The Chrysler series paintings are available. For information please email the artists studio. tomchristopherartist@gmail.com
